Hi! I'm Ellie, and I'm the Baking and Decorating Assistant at Sweet Heather Anne.
I grew up in Ann Arbor, and I made my way through many careers before realizing that baking and pastry was my true love.
In 2003 I received my BFA in Photography from the Stamps School of Art and Design, and a few years later moved out to Brooklyn with my sister to pursue a career in photography. In New York, I worked for an amazing photographer named Sheila Metzner who played a crucial role in my development as an artist. In 2011 I moved back to Ann Arbor, and started working for the Ann Arbor Film Festival.
Since high school, I've worked in restaurants to supplement my income. I taught myself how to cook and bake and decorate, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized this was my creative outlet all along. In 2016 I left my job at the AAFF and enrolled in the Culinary Arts program at Schoolcraft College. During my time at Schoolcraft I worked for Master Chef Shawn Loving, who helped me refine my skills and pushed me to become the chef I am today.
In my spare time I love cooking and gardening, decorating my new apartment, and finding new ways to convince my fiancée we need another cat. I have followed Sweet Heather Anne's work for so long, and it's a dream come true for me to work here with these talented people.
